Not only is leadership situational, but it's also personal (not every person will react to each situational quadrant the same way) and task and environment-specific.

For example (and of course, it's an extreme example), if there's a fire the environment requires a very directional approach. "You go here, you call 911, etc." Other situations require a collaborative approach. Other situations require a 'please let me know the best solution because you're the expert' approach.

To take one part of the leadership model and apply a filter of 'this is the only part' is far too simplistic. Academics often use this kind of argument. upfronthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18287420070766925369noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7900715461504740407.post-80808841546719980472019-08-22T03:22:25.555-05:002019-08-22T03:22:25.555-05:00Really interesting to distinguish this. I much prefer metrics that measure aggregate things (system oriented). A simplified version that I came across a few months ago is to put a bin by the exit to the building. Beside the bin have two buckets of balls. One bucket red, the other green. On the way out the door at night people can grab which ever colour best matches their day and puts it into the bin. Bam. If project success is on time, on budget, with desired/planned features. Then could we not make that same statement about a sprint? Sprint success is within timebox, with existing team members, and planned stories delivered and accepted by the PO.

I typically distinguish a project from a program. There is quite a lot of vagueness around all the "P" words; project, program, portfolio, product, product line, etc. For me a project may be a one-off or a thing that lives inside a bigger program of projects; may be you call this a suite. Classic example is MS Office is a suite - or a program within MS to deliver desktop applications. Where as the whole MS portfolio contains Office and many other programs/suites.Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12435527405159930692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7900715461504740407.post-47582645443059854772013-03-18T06:21:47.807-05:002013-03-18T06:21:47.807-05:00Nice list, I don't have anything to add.
