I believe there is 'smart' technical debt and stupid debt. Just as there is a home loan, and a loan shark loan. One allows that the debt may allow a group to receive something more valuable in the short term that the long term repayment (home living) or in software development - customer feedback on an XP project application. The other is - well just stupid to accept the debt. Getting a loan from the neighborhood shark to pay off the motorcycle mechanic to get your bike back after a big crash-up. Or not doing the unit test and acceptance testing that state of the art software requires, because it takes more time and is hard to do (for some people that have never done it). <br /><br />No that is not the same thing.
